We built the Capsule XL using materials typically found in tactical gear, so it withstands wind, weather and long days on the road.
1. How the Capsule Works: The whole design is built around a rigid aluminum floor that serves as the base of the carrier. The bag is mounted to the motorcycle at this base, and your dog is anchored to the same points. The fabric structure above works like a lightweight tent. It shields your dog from wind, rain, sun and insects, but it is not meant to support the dog's weight.
Base: a solid 3 mm aluminum plate provides a flat, vibration-free platform. This is crucial for your dog's stability in corners.
Frame: lightweight stainless steel rods hold the side walls in shape, so the carrier doesn't sag or flap, even at high speeds.
2. Heavy-Duty Shell (Cordura 1500): The outer shell is made from Cordura 1500, a fabric legendary for its abrasion resistance. Claws, branches and contact with asphalt won't make an impression on it.
3. Ventilation Mesh Beneath: the roll-up Cordura panels is a mesh layer for airflow. The mesh is there for ventilation and is not designed to bear any load. A dog that isn't anchored to the base and leans its full weight against the wall can tear it.
4. Professional Restraint System: Safety is our priority. The Capsule XL features a 4-point harness anchor system built directly into the aluminum floor. Your dog is secured to the metal base of the motorcycle dog seat, not to the fabric walls. This significantly reduces the risk of injury during sudden braking.

Can my dog lean against the walls of the carrier?
No. The walls are a lightweight shield against weather and insects. They are deliberately light, because our customers asked us to keep the weight of the bag as low as possible. Your dog should always be clipped to the anchor points on the floor. Don't stuff the carrier with extra cushions, as they press against the mesh and seams.
Does the carrier protect my dog from insects while riding?
Yes. Your dog rides behind you while you focus on the road, so you can't see what's happening back there. A bee, wasp or hornet flying into an open carrier at cruising speed is a real risk. A sting can make your dog panic mid-ride, and some dogs have allergic reactions. The Capsule XL is one of the very few motorcycle dog carriers for large dogs that, with the walls and roof closed, shields your dog behind mesh from bees, wasps, hornets, mosquitoes and other flying insects without sacrificing ventilation.
